She had taken some independent steps before, but only when she was walking with me holding onto her and I let go of her. This was the first time she had let go.
We spent the next week trying to get her to repeat this amazing feat, and within two weeks she was comfortable enough walking that she'd walk from the coffee table to the sofa, or from the sofa to her music table. And of course she got lots of practice walking from Dale to me and from me to Dale.
Adelaida has a particularly adorable way of holding her arms up as she walks towards us; this often culminates in her falling into us with a squeal of enjoyment. Such fun!
Here are two videos of her walking to Dale from her music table. These were taken in the first week of January, and Adelaida wouldn't stand at her music table at all -- she was so excited to walk to Dale! She has gotten quite a bit better in the past three weeks and can end her walk by standing rather than falling into us :)
Adelaida is now officially a toddler.
