It is a little odd to be writing about a very snowy Christmas while it is sunny and 75 degrees outside, but I have such fond memories of Christmas this year. Writing about it three months later just allows me to reminisce on the great times we had!
With two new babies in the house, we exercised our right to not travel for Christmas this year and instead hosted the Parkes family at our house. Five adults, a five-year-old, two three-year-olds, an eighteen-month-old, and two six-month-olds -- a total of eleven people bunked in our house, and I think we managed it pretty well. We put a blow-up toddler mattress in our room for Adelaida; turned her room over to Mamaw (in the bottom bunk), Elizabeth (in the top bunk), and Sarah (in the toddler bed); Richard, Laura, and Benjamin shared the guest room; and Estella and Cordelia had their room to themselves.
They arrived just after we had a very large snowfall, and Richard got the van stuck on our road before even turning into our driveway. That was the first of at least a dozen stuck vehicles that we extracted in the five days we had visitors. I'm sure we didn't go a single day without getting at least one vehicle stuck, and often two or three!
We had so much fun together! Here are some of the random pictures we took, between chasing kids around the house, sledding, going out, cooking, and trying to keep the house in some semblance of order.
Richard meets his new nieces -- Estella is on the left and Cordelia is on the right.

Happy Benjamin!

While the big kids ran around and laughed and played together, the little girls rolled around and enjoyed their new dolls
We had such a great time and can't wait to spend another vacation with the OK Parkes clan!
